Digital Carving - Light Apertures
How can curvilinear surfaces and edges work with light sources? Beginning in 2006, I created a series of apertures with Rhinocerous software and a Techno-Isel router as first efforts in developing our school's digital fabrication capabilities. Through these wood panels, I am thinking about sunscreens, ceiling reflectors and wall panels. I learned Rhino in Fall 2007, recruited Mark Cabrinha to teach in Winter/Spring 2007, taught my first students in 2007-8. A talented former student of mine, Paul Harman, is now teaching Fabrication classes for us.
